The suggested meditations following each thought are by Pir Zia Inayat Khan and Shams Kairys

  1. There is One God, the Eternal, the Only Being; none exists save He.
The one God: (breathing in) "It is God Whom I see (breathing out) in all names and forms."

The one Master: (in) "Teach me, 0 Lord, (out) through the words of Thy Messenger.
    "
  1. There is One Holy Book, the sacred manuscript of nature, the only scripture which can enlighten the reader.
The one Holy Book: (in) "Unfold Thy secret through nature, (out) and reveal Thy mystery through my heart.
    "
  1. There is One Religion, the unswerving progress in the right direction towards the ideal, which fulfills the life's purpose of every soul.
The one Religion: (in) "The true religion is the sea of truth; (out) all different faiths are as its waves."
  1. There is One Law, the law of reciprocity, which can be observed by a selfless conscience, together with a sense of awakened justice.
The one Law: (out) "From whomever I take anything, (in) I take it from Thee." (out) "To whomever I give something, (in) I give it humbly to Thee."
  1. There is One Brotherhood, the human brotherhood which unites the children of earth indiscriminately in the Fatherhood of God.
The one Brotherhood: (in) "I find Thy shrine (out) at the heart of man."
  1. There is One Moral, the love which springs forth from self denial and blooms in deeds of beneficence.
The one Moral Principle: (out) "In showing my sympathy to anyone, (in) I express my love to Thee."
  1. There is One Object of Praise, the beauty which uplifts the heart of its worshippers through all aspects from the seen to the unseen.
The one Object of Praise: (in) "I see Thy beloved beauty (out) in all colors and forms."
  1. There is One Truth, the true knowledge of our being, within and without, which is the essence of all wisdom.
The one Truth: (in) "Let myself turn (out) into Thy Being"
  1. There is One Path, the annihilation of the false ego in the real, which raises the mortal to immortality, in which resides all perfection.
The one Path: (in) "Let me drown in Thy divine ocean, (out) as a pearl in wine."
